DEARBORN (WWJ) – A man and woman from Dearborn are facing a long list of charges for allegedly breaking into several storage units across Metro Detroit.

Ashlee Fickel and Sam Kokenos Jr. were arrested on Jan. 29 after they were stopped by police while leaving a storage facility in the 23000 block of Kean Street in Dearborn, near Michigan and Telegraph.

Authorities allege Fickel, 36, and Kokenos, 39, used lock-picking tools to steal personal property from storage units. They allegedly worked in the middle of the night to avoid being caught.

Police haven't said what items the suspects stole from storage units.

While the pair have been charged for the alleged thefts in Dearborn, investigators believe they are also linked to storage unit thefts in Allen Park, Melvindale, Oak Park and Warren.

Fickel and Kokenos have each been charged with breaking and entering, larceny in a building, possession of a stolen financial transaction device, possession of burglary tools and possession of a controlled substance.

Fickel's bond was set at $10,000, while Kokenos was given a $15,000 bond. Their next court date has been scheduled for Feb. 24.

Police are asking anyone who thinks they may be a victim of the storage unit thieves to call Corporal Zachary Baraboll at 313-943-2275.
