Deputies arrest suspect in pellet gun shooting at Monroe County mobile home

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) Monroe County sheriff's deputies arrested a suspect in a pellet gun shooting at a mobile home complex.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened at Kimberly Estates, in the area of Telegraph and Buhl, on Friday, May 1st. Around 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Lauren and Huntington Drive for a shooting.




Upon arrival, deputies found a person who had a facial injury from a pellet gun, sheriff's officials said.

According to authorities, the shooting stemmed from a dispute. The suspect and victim knew each other

About five hours later, Monroe County Central Dispatch received information that the suspect's vehicle was at the Kimberly Estates complex. Michigan State Police and Monroe County deputies responded to Mark Drive.

Authorities said officers noticed the suspect inside a home, looking at them through the blinds.

"The suspect then exited the home peacefully and was taken into custody without incident," the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

Authorities recovered and seized the weapon likely used in the shooting.

Deputies arrested the 44-year-old man and lodged him at the Monroe County Jail. They said his name will be released following arraignment.

According to authorities, the victim was treated at the hospital for "non-life-threatening injuries." They believe the incident is isolated, and poses no danger to the public.
