DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit police officer is in trouble with the law, after it's alleged he stole some of his co-workers' sneakers at work.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday announced charges against 27-year-old Officer James Clark Davis III, in connection with the theft of multiple Detroit police officers' athletic shoes.

It is alleged that between September 4, 2024, and January 9, 2025, Davis stole "multiple pairs of fellow officers' sneakers" from their shared locker room, at the Detroit Police Department Downtown Services location on Atwater Street.

Davis was arraigned the afternoon of March 27 on three counts of Larceny in a Building and one count of Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property - $200 to $1,000.

A personal bond was set at $25,000, and Davis was ordered not to have contact with DPD Downtown Services and the victims in the case.

As a condition of his bond, he was also ordered not to leave Michigan without permission of the court.

Davis' next court date is a Probable Cause Conference, scheduled for April 8 before Judge Marlena Taylor.
