DETROIT (WWJ) -- A longtime Detroit firefighter is off the job, at least for now, after naked photos of him show up online.
WWJ's Mike Campbell reports the photos do show the firefighter's face, as well as his private parts. and a marked Detroit firetruck.
It's not yet clear who snapped the provocative photos, who leaked them, and why.
Detroit Fire Department officials have places the firefighter on an unpaid suspension until they can fully investigate the situation.
Campbell reports the department said the firefighter apparently posed for some of the photos on fire station property. "Because you can see a firetruck clearly in the background," Campbell said. "In front this this person, allegedly... either naked or partially clothed."
Other photos — blurred before they were shared on social media — show the firefighter standing while wearing his DFD dress uniform shirt and tie, "but apparently not much else," Campbell said.
While officials have not publicly named the firefighter, they say he is a city employee and a 9-year veteran of the Detroit Fire Department.
It's unclear at this time if the firefighter is likely to lose his job, or what other disciplinary action he may face.
Executive Fire Commissioner Charles Simms told WDIV-TV, "At the end of the day, we hold all our members to a certain standard. We want to have an investigation to make sure those standards were met. If you work for the Detroit Fire Department, you represent the Detroit Fire Department on and off the job.”
The blurred photos can be seen on WDIV's website at this link.
