DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit woman returned home Tuesday evening to make a gruesome discovery: two people dead in her basement.
The woman told investigators that she left her house, on on DeSoto Street on the city's west side, for about an hour. When she came home, she found her front door was locked.
Police said the woman got into her house through a window, and then searched inside for whomever who had locked her door.
That's when she found an unidentified man, obviously dead, at the bottom of the basement steps, according to Detroit Police Deputy Chief Jacqueline Pritchett.
"She retreated, 911 was called, scouts show up, she advised them of the story, and they entered the location looking for additional victims," Pritchett said.
During the investigation, Pritchett said a dead woman was also found in the basement of the home.
The homeowner told police that she has no idea who the dead people are, or where they came from.
Pritchett said police need any potential witnesses to come forward.
"I'm asking the people who live on this block, if you saw anything, heard anything, please contact 1-800-Speak Up, or Detroit Rewards TV," she said.
Investigators said, at this time, there is no known motive, suspect, or vehicle information related to the incident.
