FERNDALE, Mich. (WWJ) -- A 23-year-old Detroit man is facing charges for allegedly burglarizing a smoke shop in Ferndale early Monday morning, as well as two other burglaries last month.
Ferndale police say they were called to the Puff Factory located at 800 Nine Mile Road around 6:15 a.m. Monday on the report of a burglary alarm. When officers arrived, they found the front glass door broken and two cash registers missing from the store.
Cash, tobacco products and clothing items were stolen from the store, according to police.
A witness who saw the burglary happen described the suspect's clothing and vehicle to officers, who found the vehicle a short time later while canvassing the area.
As the sergeant approached the suspect's vehicle, the suspect exited and fled on foot, before officers eventually caught and arrested the suspect.
The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Andre Gordon of Detroit. He was arraigned Tuesday in 43rd District Court on three charges of breaking and entering, a 10-year felony.
Gordon has also been tied to two additional burglaries from May 22, though police have not disclosed where those crimes took place or what was stolen.
Gordon was given a $30,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear back in court on June 24.
