HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) -- A Detroit man is expected to face charges after leading police on a chase in a U-Haul truck.

At around midnight on Monday, Aug. 11, Michigan State Police troopers were called to assist Highland Park Police with a chase involving a person driving a stolen U-Haul box truck.

As the chase continued, the suspect allegedly attempted to ram a patrol car, and several officers.

According to investigators, the chase ended when the suspect crashed the U-Haul into a pole on Massachusetts St and John R. The suspect tried to get away, jumping out of the vehicle and running into a backyard of a home on Massachusetts.

MSP said troopers found the suspect, identified as a 34-year-old Detroit man, hiding in some overgrown vegetation. He was taken into custody and turned over to the Highland Park PD.

No injuries were reported to the suspect or officers involved.
