DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit man has been charged with first-degree murder for shooting a man in the neck inside a local club, earlier this year.
The shooting happened early in the morning hours of March 1, 2026, in the 7100 block of W. Warren Ave., west of Livernois on the city's west side.
Detroit police responded to a reported shooting at a motorcycle club at that location, around 3 a.m.
Officers went into the building to find a single victim, 26-year-old Darrell Moore of Detroit, suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
EMS arrived, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy 's office alleges that the suspect, Samuel Spencer Tipton, Jr., approached Moore and fired a handgun, fatally wounding him before fleeing the area.
Following a months-long investigation, Detroit Police arrested Tipton on July 6.
Tipton faces multiple charges, including one count of first-degree murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and two counts of felony firearm.
He was arranged in 36th District Court on Wednesday, and was remanded to jail without bond.
His next court appearance is a probable cause conference scheduled for July 24, followed by a preliminary examination set for July 31.
