DETROIT (WWJ) — The search continues for a suspect in a Detroit freeway shooting that left a man dead Saturday evening.

Police began receiving calls shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8 about a shooting on the northbound Southfield freeway near the ramp to I-96.

When Detroit police officers showed up they found a 35-year-old Detroit man inside the car and immediately began administering CPR. He was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Michigan State Police officials on Monday afternoon said investigators have determined the victim was the target of the shooting. No other information was released, however, including a possible motive or what made it a targeted shooting.

A suspect remained at-large on Monday and police have not released any description.

Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or may have information about it to call 855-MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

The freeway remained closed at Joy Road for several hours as MSP searched for evidence.
