DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit police officer was involved in a shooting Tuesday night after a Facebook Marketplace sale for Air Jordans turned violent.

According to investigators, the suspects showed up on the city's west side, near Mark Twain and Chalfonte streets, just before 7 p.m. for an online transaction to buy the shoes-- but the seller was allegedly carjacked at gunpoint instead.

Police said the suspects forced the seller and his young children out of the car, then drove off.

A Detroit Police Department special operations unit spotted the stolen car shortly after, chasing it for about two blocks.

As officers approached, the vehicle turned in their direction. Police said out of fear for their safety, one of the officers fired multiple rounds at the vehicle.

No officers were injured, but the suspect who was driving was shot twice and is currently hospitalized.

The other suspect, a juvenile, was taken into police custody.

According to officials, the seller and his family are okay.
