Surveillance video shows suspects ransacking shoe repair store on Livernois as cars drive by, Detroit police asking for tips

DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are searching for a group of suspects caught on camera ransacking a shoe repair business on the city's west side.

Surveillance video released by the Detroit Police Department's 12th Precinct shows three suspects, all wearing dark clothing, masks and gloves, inside the Shoe Doctor store on Livernois at Clarita Avenue, just south of 7 Mile Road.

Authorities say the burglary happened around 1 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.

The video shows two suspects walking through a smashed-out front door, then hop behind a counter. The suspects hand what appears to be a cash drawer over to the third suspect, who brings it out to a black truck or SUV parked next to the building.

The suspects then carry out several bags of shoes and one large bag, also presumably stuffed with shoes.

Authorities have not specified what exactly was stolen.

The video shows two cars driving past the ongoing burglary. As the second car goes by, one of the suspects is standing in the doorway with an armful of bags.

Authorities are asking anyone who knows something about the burglary to contact Officer Sterner at 313-596-1240 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP to submit anonymous tips.
