DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit Police are in large numbers out this week continuing their effort to track down clues in missing persons cases.

The DPD said its officers, with the FBI, would be focused on an area of the city's west side on Wednesday as part of the Operation United Project BLOCK — which stands for "Bringing Lost Ones Closer to Kin."

The project focuses on searching areas within the city of Detroit that are connected to missing persons cases, as well as securing abandoned homes, cleaning vacant lots, and removing debris.

Police did not specify where, exactly, they'd be, but said they will be out near the 10th Precinct, which is located near Livernois and Elmhurst.

Back in May, the department was out at Pingree Park, between E. Warren and E. Canfield, with dozens of officers, along with firetrucks and EMS, for a similar search.

At the time, Commander Rebecca McKay, of the DPD's Major Crimes Unit, explained that the park was just the first location as part of a multi-area operation planned to continue over next several months, leading into the fall, trying to solve cases of missing persons.

Police have declined to release any details about specific cases, or about which people they may be searching for in any particular area.
