DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit Police said investigators discovered a "deceased" person in a home on the city's east side because of a tip.
Police said a member of the community called to report an individual who went missing on an unknown date.
Officers followed up on a missing persons search on Wednesday, May 13, and found the deceased.
Authorities did not disclose the location of the home. They also did not release any information on the person's identity, including their name, age or gender-- or cause of death.
According to authorities, the investigation remains ongoing.
They said the deceased person who was found is not connected to any missing persons cases.
"The Detroit Police Department would like to thank community members who continue to come forward with information that may assist investigators and help reunite missing individuals with their loved ones," DPD said in a release. "Community cooperation remains critical in helping bring answers to families and advancing investigations safely and effectively.”
