DETROIT (WWJ) — The search is on for a man who allegedly shot another man who was sitting in his car on Detroit's east side last weekend.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11 on Medbury Street, in the area of I-94 and E. Grand Boulevard — a couple blocks from GM's Factory Zero.

A 27-year-old man was about to get out of his car when the suspect pulled up behind him in a burgundy Ford F-150, according to Detroit police. The suspect got out of the truck, ran up to the victim and fired two shots.

The victim sped away from the scene and flagged down help from a medic unit, officials said. He was taken to the hospital, where he is still being treated for his injuries, as of Tuesday afternoon.

Detroit police on Tuesday released surveillance video from the neighborhood showing the suspect running up to the car just before the shooting. The victim's car is seen pulling away just as the suspect raises his arm.

Police also released video footage showing the suspect's truck, an older model F-150.

Authorities have not released a possible motive in the case and officials did not say whether the victim and suspect had any prior contact before the shooting.

Officials are asking anyone who knows something about the shooting to call the Detroit Police Department's 7th Precinct at 313-596-5740.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or at DetroitRewards.tv.
