Detroit police search for 'armed and dangerous' suspect in gas station assault

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The search is on for a man caught on camera committing a crime at a Detroit gas station Friday night.

Detroit police on Sunday released photos and video of a man they say is wanted for aggravated assault and kidnapping at a gas station in the 15100 block of Greenfield Road, near Fenkell on the city's west side.

Police say around 4 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, the suspect walked into the gas station, pulled out a gun and ordered another man to get into his black Chrysler.

After "driving around for a short period of time," the suspect let the other man out of his vehicle, Detroit police said.

The victim was not injured during the incident, according to police.

It was not clear what prompted the kidnapping or what led the suspect to release the victim.

The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous.

He is described only as a Black male, according to police. He was last seen wearing a black Nike hooded sweatshirt, faded blue jeans and tan boots.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the photos or knows anything about the incident is being asked to contact Officer Cook at the Detroit Police Department's 2nd Precinct at 313-596-5252.

Calls can also be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
