Amber Alert canceled for one-year-old Detroit girl found safe, police search for suspect vehicle

DETROIT (WWJ)— Detroit Police are searching for the vehicle used in the kidnapping of a one-year-old girl, prompting an overnight Amber Alert.

Police said four men in a newer model gray Dodge Durango (pictured below) opened fire on a man, woman and the baby girl who were together in the area. The shooting happened Saturday (7/20) around 10 p.m. in the area of Littlefield and Compass, near Schoolcraft and Schaefer on the city’s west side.

The man was struck by a bullet and killed.

According to Detroit Police, the suspects took the child and fled. Michigan State Police issued an Amber Alert for her overnight. On Sunday, at approximately 5:45 a.m., Detroit Police announced she had been “found safe" and the Amber Alert was cancelled.

No further information was released.

The Dodge Durango has a Pure Michigan license plate EAD-187.
