DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are investigating after two teen girls were shot at a birthday party.
Authorities say the shooting happened on Sunday night on the 8600 block of Penrod near the Southfield Freeway on the city's west side.
Officials say a silver-colored SUV, with four suspects inside, drove up to the gathering and fired shots from a high-powered rifle. The bullets hit two 14-year-old girls. One of the girls was reportedly hit once in the chest and arm. The other girl was reportedly hit in the foot.
The status of the teens is unknown at this time, but officials say both were alert before they arrived at the hospital.
The suspect is in custody.
