DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver of a car they say may know something about a homicide on the city's west side.
A 41-year-old man was shot shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 21 in the area of W. Grand Boulevard and Linwood by an unknown suspect, according to police.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim's identity was not disclosed.
Authorities say the suspect fled the location after the incident.
Police have identified a vehicle that was in that area at the time of the shooting, as they believe the driver may have information regarding the incident.
Police released video footage from a nearby parking lot that shows the vehicle, which is believed to be dark gray, possibly a Chrysler 200, with a spoiler on the back and damage to the passenger's side rear quarter panel.
Authorities did not say whether the vehicle was related to the incident, but believe whoever was in it knows something about the shooting.
Anyone who recognizes the vehicle of interest or knows anything about the shooting is asked to contact the Detroit Police Department's Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
