DETROIT (WWJ) A Detroit teen has been charged in the carjacking of a Warren woman who was rescuing dogs on the city's east side.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Dwayne Noah Alexander- Perdue, 17, with carjacking the 47-year-old woman.

Prosecutors said the victim was in a backyard of a home on Charest, in the area of McNichols and Conant, on May 7 around 3:30 p.m. She was feeding dogs when the defendant allegedly approached her, pulled out a handgun and stole her car keys.

The defendant then fled the scene in the victim's vehicle, according to prosecutors.

Detroit Police investigated the case and arrested Alexander-Perdue later that day.

He was charged with Armed Robbery, Carjacking, Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile, Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and 3 counts of Felony Firearm.

“The victim in this case was providing an all too necessary service that is sorely needed in the City of Detroit." Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "The defendant’s alleged actions in this case were the opposite of altruistic- they were predatory, violent, unacceptable, and criminal."
