DETROIT (WWJ) -- Two teenagers are being charged as adults for the armed robbery and deadly shooting of another teen on Detroit's east side.
Prosecutors said the shooting happened the afternoon of May 22, at King Richard and Bedford Streets, near the I-94 service drive.
A 16-year-old boy was walking home from school, just before 4 p.m., when it's alleged that 15-year-old Barry Love and 16-year-old Anthony Carter approached him, armed with handguns.
Prosecutors said Love and Carter robbed the teen and then fired multiple shots, before fleeing.
The victim, who was shot in the chest multiple times, was later found and pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation led police to arrest Love and Carter two weeks later, prosecutors said.
The murdered teen was a student at nearby East English Village Preparatory Academy, according to reports.
The accused teens are charged with Felony Murder, Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm. They were arraigned on Thursday in 36th District Court where Love was given a $1 million cash bond, and Carter was given a $200,000 cash bond.
A bond redetermination hearing in the case was set for June 17, to be followed by a probable cause conference scheduled for June 21.
They face up to life in prison if convicted.
