Detroit/Munich (WWJ) -- The “home teams” will again have a large presence at the Detroit Auto Show.

“Building on the momentum from the 2025 Detroit Auto Show, we’re thrilled to announce Ford, General Motors, Stellantis, and Toyota will participate in the 2026 show,” said Todd Szott, Chairman, 2026 Detroit Auto Show. “We are incredibly appreciative for their ongoing commitment to bring the Motor City one of the best shows in the world and support our more than a century of automotive heritage with the show.”

The show begins on Jan. 14, with the North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year Awards. That is part of “Media and Industry” days on the 14th and 15th. Charity Preview will be held the evening of the 16th and the show opens to the public on Jan. 17, running through Jan 25.

The four brands that have committed to the Detroit show have been long time supporters.  We could hear more announcements in coming months of other brands committing to exhibit at the show.

“I think it’s just having those conversations about the value of Detroit and what we’re trying to do,” said show Executive Director Sam Klemet. “Going back to January, I think, was really important.  We’re the first auto show of 2026.  So, to start it off and build some momentum.”

For the manufacturers who don’t choose to have an exhibit, dealers will provide vehicles, so that show goers will be able to see vehicles from just about every major automotive brands.

“Last year we had thirty brands,” said Szott.  “We expect to have that and more with increased participation this year.”

A number of elements from last year’s show will also return including the popular “Racing Day” – in partnership with the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix – which will feature a vehicle demo track, hands-on experiences and sessions with IndyCar drivers during the public days.

Additionally, The Gallery, an ultra-luxury and exotic vehicle showcase which last year included 50 prestigious automobiles, will return in 2026.

The Detroit Auto Show will also include a number of tracks, which will give visitors an opportunity to actually experience the vehicles.

Szott and Klemet spoke to us from the Munich Auto Show, which is going on right now.

“These shows are big and expansive” says Klemet.  “There’s still a very unique flavor to each one.  Paris has their own culture.  Here in Munich they have their culture.  In Detroit, we have a culture as well.  We want to reflect what Detroit is in the show.”
