After loss of flagship store, Motor City brand Detroit Vs Everybody set to open new location in District Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit-based brand Detroit Vs Everybody is ushering a new era on Wednesday when they open the doors to their new storefront in downtown Detroit.

The global clothing brand will welcome guests to their new location at 44 W. Columbia Street in The District Detroit on December 20th with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and other representatives from the City of Detroit, Olympia Development of Michigan and The District Detroit will join Tommey Walker, Detroit Vs Everybody creator, and Detroit athletes and influencers for the ceremony.

Wednesday's grand opening comes nearly three months after the original storefront was forced to locate when the Del Bene building, located on the corner of Winder and Russell streets just across from the market's Shed Two, partially collapsed on Sept. 16.

In addition to Detroit vs. Everybody, the building housed several other businesses including Jabs Gym and Beyond Juicery & Eatery, Brooklyn Outdoor, and j'adore Detroit.

According to authorities, one passerby suffered minor injuries following the collapse, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Multiple vehicles parked on the side of the building were hit by falling debris.

The building was slated for demolition and condemned, but city officials gave the OK for contractors to go in and stabilize the structure at the end of September after the owner of the building hired an engineer who found the location was "safe to enter, stabilize, assess, and repair," according to the city Buildings, Safety, Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED).
