DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit woman has been charged for allegedly hitting and killing a man and woman waiting at a bus stop last Friday.

That's according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's office. The crash happened at Evergreen Road and Fenkell Avenue around 6:45 p.m.

That's where the man and woman from Detroit, Elizabeth Agbottah, 41, and Kwasi Agbottah, 43, were sitting before police say they were hit by Dejah Berry, 33. She then crashed into a parked car at the BP gas station. The Prosecutor's Office says Berry was driving southbound on Evergreen when she lost control of the vehicle; causing her cross over onto the northbound side of the road and eventually into the bus stop.

First responders tried to save the lives of the two victims. They were transported to a local hospital, where they both succumbed to their injuries.

Berry has been charged with two counts of Reckless Driving Causing Death and two counts of Driving While License Suspended, Revoked, or Denied Causing Death.

"I really do not know what else can be said about drivers driving like there are no rules of the road and thinking they can drive anyway they want to drive. That allegedly happened in this case, and now two innocent people at a bus stop are dead," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy, in a statement.

Berry was arraigned Monday afternoon 36th District Court and given a $50,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether and house arrest.

At the hearing, Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Steve Vincent told the judge that Berry knew that she shouldn't be driving.

"She's had doctors who have told her not not to be on the roadway," Vincent said. "Apparently, she has some kind of medical condition. She finds herself on the road, possibly going through a medical condition. Clears the line of center, ends up running into two people at a bus stop in the city of Detroit, ends up killing them."

Berry's attorney said she doesn't remember what happened and may have had a seizure.

Berry faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted as charged.
