EASTPOINTE (WWJ) — A Detroit woman is facing felony charges after an argument with her boyfriend escalated to gun violence.
Tiana Luckett, 34, was arraigned Friday on 15 total counts, including attempted murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
The charges stem from an incident last Thursday, July 25 at an apartment building in Eastpointe.
The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office says Luckett and her boyfriend were arguing and when it "turned into a physical altercation," she grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed at the man.
The boyfriend "defended himself" from the attack, accoding to the prosecutor's office.
Luckett was eventually able to get a hold of a gun and she allegedly fired a shot at her boyfriend, officials said.
The shot missed and went through the wall into an adjoining apartment. Two people who were in the neighboring apartment were not injured, officials said.
Luckett, who is being charged as a habitual second offender, has been charged with the following:
• Assault with intent to murder, a life felony
• Discharge of a firearm in a building, a 10-year felony
• Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony
• Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a five-year felony
• Possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, a five-year felony
• Two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, a four-year felony
• Six counts of felony firearm, a mandatory two-year felony
• Domestic violence, a 93-day misdemeanor
• Careless discharge of a firearm causing property damage, a one-year misdemeanor
Luckett's bond was set at $750,000 cash/surety. Her next court date is scheduled for Aug. 13.
"We must hold individuals accountable for their actions, especially when those actions result in harm or endanger lives. Our goal is to seek justice for the victims while addressing the broader issues of domestic violence within our community," Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said, per a press release.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. In an emergency, call 911 or your local police department. Additional resources are available on the Macomb County government website.
