DETROIT (WWJ) - A bad day for one Detroit woman certainly turned around after she decided to take a break to relax and decided to play a Michigan Lottery game on her phone -- and won.
Jamila McCaskill, 44, won a prize of $100,000 while spinning on the Michigan Lottery's Diamond Payout instant game.
“I was having a tough day and took a break to relax,” said McCaskill. “I logged in to the Lottery app to do my Daily Spin to Win and then decided to play some games. As I was scrolling through the different games, Diamond Payout caught my eye, so I started playing.
“On only my second spin, the screen lit up and I knew I had won a prize. When I saw the prize amount of $100,000, I couldn’t believe it. This is by far the largest prize I have ever won, and it feels amazing!”
McCaskill picked up her winnings from the Lottery headquarters. She plans to use the big prize to pay off her home and knock out some bills.
The Michigan Lottery said over one million people are registered to play the Lotto's online games, which can be accessed through computer, tablet or phone. Players have a chance to win up to $500,000 instantly.
Players also have a chance to win anywhere from $1 to multimillion-dollar prizes by playing Powerball, Mega Millions, Lucky for Life, Lotto 47, and Fantasy 5 online.
On the online platform, players can choose from more than 175 games ranging from five cents to $20.
