DETROIT (WWJ) – Dutch Girl Donuts is set to return more than a year and a half after closing due to staffing shortages.
The beloved donut shop, located on Woodward Avenue at 7 Mile Road, closed in September 2021 and owners announced the bakery was up for sale back in April.
On Thursday the Dutch Girl Donuts Facebook page posted that they’ll be open “very soon” after accepting an offer from new owners.
Jon Timmer, the son of the late owners Gene and Lauren Timmer, will be making the family’s recipes “just as we remember,” according to the post.
“The tradition of Dutch Girl that we all love and miss will be alive and well again. Thank you for all the love and support,” the Facebook post said.
An opening date has not been determined and no information about the news owners has been released.
