(WWJ) The body of a Northville man has been pulled from Lake St. Clair after he went into the water on Saturday.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said the dive team recovered 23-year-old James “Jak” Kramer at around 11 a.m. on Monday, following an extensive search that began over the weekend.
The sheriff's office initially received a call Saturday evening that a man had gone into the water to swim, a few miles away from the mouth of the South Channel, and hadn't resurfaced.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Sheriff's Office Marine Division were called in to assist.
Officials said foul play is not suspected.
"The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to Kramer’s family and friends during this difficult time," the MCSO added, in a statement.
This incident happened the same day as the massive "Raft Off" boat party on the lake, although officials did not say if Kramer attended the event. The general area where he went into the open water to swim is a mile or two from Muskamoot Bay, where the Raft Off takes place.
No further details were released.
