(WWJ) Moms, dads, grandparents and guardians of all kinds have one thing in common: They're itching to get kids off the screens and out of the house this summer!

If you're looking for some new and fun ideas, here's one that works no matter what the weather:

After being closed during the pandemic, the Michigan DNR's Outdoor Adventure Center is reopening to the public this Friday, July 16.

Located indoors on Detroit's riverfront, the OAC gives visitors a taste of Michigan’s great outdoors in the heart of the city. The 40,000-square-foot historic building plays host to hands-on activities, exhibits and simulators that help visitors experience the outdoors.

Kids can touch a waterfall, step into a fishing boat, reel in a big fish, ride a snowmobile and more.

Summer hours are:

Friday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday: noon to 5 p.m.

The OAC will resume its Wednesday-Sunday schedule in October 2021.

Admission is $5 for adults and only $3 for Seniors 62+ and children ages 2-12. Kids under age 2 are free. There's also an annual family membership available for $50. Get more information at michigan.gov/oac.
