(WWJ) A Farmington doctor accused of molesting several young hockey players has taken a plea deal.
The Oakland County Prosecutor's office says 68-year old Zvi Levran pleaded no contest Tuesday to 28 charges, including 11 counts of fourth degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, 10 counts of third degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, three counts of second degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, two counts of Child Sexually Abusive Material, and two counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity.
Investigators say Levran sexually abused teenaged boys while he was working as a doctor for youth hockey teams in Metro Detroit.
“This guilty plea holds Zvi Levran accountable for his crimes and provides justice for his victims,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald in a statement. “Today’s outcome ensures Levran’s victims will not be re-traumatized by the burden of testifying at trial. It also spares them any further uncertainty about the outcome of this case. The victims were heard, and their stories were believed. Zvi Levran is guilty.”
The first charges were announced in late 2022. After a call for additional victims to come forward, police took tips from Farmington Hills, Livonia, Novi, Redford Township, and West Bloomfield as well as from Arizona, California, Georgia, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Canada.
Levran will be sentenced April 29th. Third degree Criminal Sexual Assault carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
