Double shooting in Harper Woods kills 1, police hunting for suspect in Dodge Charger with 'poor black paint job'

Authorities are searching for a shooting suspect that allegedly open fired on two people, killing one, before leaving the scene in Harper Woods on Thursday morning.

HARPER WOODS (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for a shooting suspect that allegedly open fired on two people, killing one, before leaving the scene in Harper Woods on Thursday morning.

The Harper Woods Police Department said officers were dispatched just before 9 a.m. on July 13 to the 19300 block of Kelly Road after they received a report of at least one person shot.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men had been struck by gunfire. One victim, identified as a 25-year-old man, was rushed to a local hopsital where he is listed in stable condition.

The second gunshot victim, a 37-year-old man, was killed at the scene, police said.

The suspect managed to flee the scene, but police say they are currently working on track him down.

He is described by Harper Woods PD as a Black man standing 5' 8" tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants, white shoes and possibly a ski mask, they added.

The suspect vehicle was identified as a newer-style Dodge Charger with tinted window and a "poor black paint job."

Police it appeared the paint had been "spray painted on."
