
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are continuing to investigate a double shooting that left two people hospitalized at the start of the holiday weekend.
A Detroit police spokesperson told WWJ the officer were called to the area of Joy and Schaefer roads on the city's west side just after 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1 on reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered evidence of a shooting, but the victims were nowhere to be found.
Police said not moments later, two men arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. One was listed in serious temporary condition while the other victim is in critical condition.
Detectives are working to learn more about what happened, but the circumstances leading up to the shooting -- as well as any suspect information -- remains unknown at this time.
The investigation remains active with the 2nd Precinct detective unit.
