DPD Chief James White has 'master plan' to keep fans safe during the Lions' playoff game against the LA Rams

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Detroit Police are gearing up for a busy Sunday ahead of the Detroit Lions' first playoff game at Ford Field.

The Detroit Lions will be welcoming their former quarterback, Matthew Stafford, back to the city for the playoff game this weekend when they play the Los Angeles Rams.

The DPD said they are preparing to deploy more officers in the city for the game.

Detroit Police Chief James White said they are expecting more than 65,000 fans to head down to the city for the game Sunday night, and his department will be working with Ford Field security to keep everyone safe.

"Use the legal parking, that's the key. Park legally. No open liquor as you're walking to the field and walking away. No weapons allowed inside," White told WWJ's Ryan Marshall.

Officers will also be keeping an eye out for another concern for fans.

"We want to make sure fans are aware that there are some folks that are selling replica gear that we want to make sure they don't participate in, White said. "We'll have some officers out here addressing that. We'll give you some information on what to look for in terms of the authentic apparel. But we'll have some undercover officers quite frankly working that area as well."

White said officers will also be looking for fake tickets to the game. Fans should be on the look out for counterfeit tickets and merchandise as they head into the game.

Kickoff for Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams is at 8 p.m.
