FOWLERVILLE (WWJ) – A major freeway in Southeast Michigan has reopened after a semi-truck hauling mail overturned Sunday morning, causing Michigan State Police to close the freeway.

It all happened around 7 a.m. when MSP troopers from the Brighton Post were called to eastbound I-96 at Fowlerville Road.

Investigations show the truck ran off the freeway and overturned. Officials have not said what exactly caused the crash, but said the driver was cited for careless driving.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Photos posted to the MSP First District Twitter page show the aftermath of the crash.

Authorities did not say what type of mail the truck was carrying or whether any mail was lost in the crash.

The freeway remained closed for more than two hours, but it has since reopened.
