
OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - The driver of a Ford pick up truck is dead after the vehicle rammed through an apartment building on the border of Royal Oak and Berkley on Thursday morning.
The Berkley Police Department confirmed the death with WWJ as they continue to investigate the crash that occurred around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday Aug. 10 at the Beaumont Apartments on northbound Coolidge Highway near Webster.
Officials said a white Ford F-150 truck collided with an SUV before continuing on, striking a utility pole and crashing right through the apartment building.
The male driver was rushed to the hospital, but died of his injuries. No one else was injured in the incident.
Police said the crash began in Berkley before crossing over into Royal Oak. Officers from both departments are on scene and have closed northbound Coolidge to Warwick until further notice as Berkley PD takes over the case.
At this time, the circumstances leading up to the collision remain unknown. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
