ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - A 61-year-old man is behind bars after police say he was intoxicated and touching himself in front of others just before noon at an Ann Arbor park on Wednesday.

Ann Arbor Police said they received a report around 11:15 a.m. on April 5 of a man fondling himself at County Farm Park on Platt Road. They arrived to the area and spoke with a female witness who was able to direct them to the man's location.

Officers saw the 61-year-old Ann Arbor man laying on a picnic table inside the park, face up and actively fondling himself.

"As the officer attempted to place the man under arrest, he refused to comply with the officer’s verbal commands and attempted to pull away from the officer in an effort to break free," the department said in an update to social media.

The two struggled briefly before the officer was able to get handcuffs on the man. He was then taken into custody for indecent exposure.

The police department said an open beer can was discovered near the picnic table and responding officers could smell alcohol on the man's breath when he spoke with them.

"A preliminary breath test conducted at the Ann Arbor Police Station showed the man had a blood-alcohol level of .210," police added.

As officers investigated further, they discovered the same man had an active warrant for his arrest in Ypsilanti, also for indecent exposure.

The 61-year-old was lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail as pending charges await a prosecutor's review.
