TROY (WWJ) — A Detroit man is in trouble with the law after he was found sleeping along I-75 in his Dodge Charger last weekend.
The incident happened around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 in the area of southbound I-75 and Long Lake Road, according to Troy police.
Officers saw a 2008 Dodge Charger pulled over on the right shoulder with its hazard lights on so they stopped to check on the driver. When officers got out of the patrol car they found out the car was still running and the driver was asleep at the wheel.
When they woke the 26-year-old driver he told them he had pulled over to put an address in his GPS.
After he admitted to drinking beer and smoking marijuana prior to driving, officers spotted a burnt joint in the cupholder.
The man failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .104% BAC on a preliminary breath test. He was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up, where his blood was drawn for a chemical test.
The case was turned over to the detective bureau and officials said the appropriate warrants would be issued once the results are returned.
The man's name was not released.
