DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has had to reschedule four performances next week due to flood damage caused by recent severe weather.
As was the case with many places across metro Detroit, the DSO says Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center sustained flood and water damage from the storms. The damage was mostly confined to the basement, but the DSO has closed the building to the public until further notice out of an abundance of caution as they assess the damage and make repairs.
That impacts four performances scheduled at the center this week, causing some rescheduling and relocating for the following:
-- Summer Sessions: DSO Outdoors, featuring the Great Waters Quartet had initially been scheduled for Wednesday, July 28 at 7 p.m., but will now happen at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27 at Sosnick Courtyard.
-- The Jazz Gallery All Stars featuring the music of Roy Hargrave will still happen at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, but it has also been moved to Sosnick Courtyard.
-- Yoga + Live Music had been scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m., but will now happen at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 29 at Sosnick Courtyard.
-- Sunny Jain's Wild Wild East, initially planned for Thursday at 7 p.m., has been pushed back a little further. It has been rescheduled for Friday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.
The DSO says all current ticketholders for any of the rescheduled events will automatically be transferred to the new dates. Anyone with questions can contact the DSO Box Office at tickets@dso.org or on the phone at 313-576-5111. Updates can also be found on the DSO's social media pages.
