
EAST CHINA TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - DTE authorities are looking into the cause of a fire that broke out in the boiler building of the company's Blue Water Energy Center on Wednesday.
The St. Clair Fire Department initially responded to the blaze shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, but help was called in from responders in Marine City, Ira Township and Clay Township as additional equipment and manpower was needed.
Thick clouds of smoke could be seen rising from the plant as crews worked to control the blaze -- fire fighters took about an hour extinguish the flames.
DTE said that no injuries were reported and all employees and personnel were accounted for.
Officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
