ERIE TWP. (WWJ) -- Some shaking was reported in Monroe County Monday afternoon -- did you feel the earthquake?

A magnitude 2.4 earthquake was reported at 12:49 p.m. near Luna Pier in Erie Township.

Quakes that small aren't normally felt, unless they are shallow and residents are near the epicenter.

The specific location of the quake was just off Strasburg Road between Rauch and E. Samaria roads, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's coordinates.

There was no damage and no injuries reported.

The last earthquake in Michigan was in August of 2020. A magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported in the same area at Detroit Beach, near the coast of Sterling State Park. Officials say because that quake was shallow, its effects were widespread, with reports of it being felt as far as Toledo, Lorain, Sterling Heights, Michigan and Ann Arbor.
