DETROIT (WWJ) -- If you love Eastern Market’s annual Flower Day but were hoping to avoid the crowds, here’s your solution!
The popular Detroit farmers market has announced that this year, Flower Day will span the course of four days, swapping its traditional date of the Sunday after Mother's Day for each Tuesday of the month.
Eastern Market Flower Day Dates:
-Tuesday, May 4: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m
-Tuesday, May 7: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m
-Tuesday, May 18: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m
-Tuesday, May 25: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m
While selections at the Tuesday markets will be downsized to suit what they expect will be smaller crowds, a wider variety of flowers will still be available for purchase at the weekly Saturday Markets from April through June.
There will be no flower event on Sunday, May 16 (when Flower Day would have usually taken place) and no online sales this year.
Masks are still required at the market, which will continue efforts to maintain safety standards by spreading out customer traffic and observing social distancing.
Eastern Market is free and open to all ages.
