DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit was buzzing Saturday night with Ed Sheeran performing in front of a sold-out crowd at Ford Field, Kid Rock across the street at Little Caesars Arena and a number of other events downtown.
The crowd at Ford Field went wild when Sheeran began performing a cover of Detroit rap icon Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.”
And then they went ballistic when Eminem himself came on stage and performed the rest of the first verse of his Detroit anthem.
Clips of the surprise performance went viral overnight, garnering millions of views.
Sheeran and Eminem, who have collaborated on multiple occasions including Sheeran’s 2017 hit “River,” went on to perform Eminem’s “Stan.”
Official attendance figures for Saturday's show haven't been released, but The Detroit News reports it is expected to be the second-highest Ford Field has ever seen, behind only Garth Brooks' 70,000 in 2020.
