MONROE COUNTY (WWJ) -- It appears someone may have taken the announcement that Faster Horses will return this summer a bit too literally!

A runaway horse caused a traffic jam on I-75 in Monroe County on Tuesday afternoon.

“I looked and I realized there was a horse running down the entrance ramp,” Travis Larkin told ClickOnDetroit.com.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department was on the scene, and drivers say that many people tried to help catch the horse as it was galloping down the freeway.

After some time, a couple of drivers were able to box the horse in, and it was lassoed and safely loaded back into a trailer.

“It was an amusing and lighthearted situation,” Larkin said. “It wasn’t a bad thing, it was stunning and hilarious. Who expected to see a horse running down the interstate?”

No word on how exactly the horse got loose from the nearby farm.
