AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) – A fight at Great Lakes Crossing Saturday night led to rumors of an active shooter, but police officials say there was never a threat to the public.

Auburn Hills police officers were called to the mall for a report of assault and battery.

Despite online reports that there was an active shooter, police officials said on Twitter there were no shots fired and no guns were involved.

While it’s not exactly clear what prompted the fight, officials said one of the people involved in the incident used pepper spray.

Authorities say those affected by the pepper spray were treated at the scene by EMTs.

It was not clear whether anyone was arrested in connection with the incident. The investigation is still ongoing.
