YPSILANTI (WWJ) – Police in Ypsilanti are trying to figure out what led up to a brawl at a high school basketball game Tuesday night.

The fight broke out during the junior varsity game between the Adrian and Ypsilanti boys’ basketball teams, but authorities aren’t yet sure what exactly sparked the incident.

During the third quarter of the game, a fan -- who officials say was not affiliated with either school -- ran onto the floor and attacked an Ypsilanti player, according to a report from LenConnect.

That started a brawl on the court. Officials haven't said whether anyone was injured in the incident.

The rest of the game -- along with the varsity game -- were both postponed after the Ypsilanti athletic director deemed it was unsafe to keep playing.

Both schools are reportedly working to determine if and when the games will be made up, where it would be played and whether attendance will be permitted.

It was rumored the person who ran onto the court was carrying a gun, but police have not yet confirmed that, according to the report.
