DETROIT (WWJ) -- The latest look at the upcoming winter from a longtime guide isn't a good one. Unless you like it wet.
Although it's mid-August, the Farmer's Almanac is out with its 2024-25 winter forecast for Michigan — saying it will be extra wet, fairly snowy and frigid cold.
WWJ's Kyle Kimball, who had a look in the book, shared some highlights: the first snowfall will supposedly come in early November, with "frigidly cold" temperatures through Nov. 11, and rain and wet snow continuing through Thanksgiving.
And there's some more bad news. The almanac says there will be no white Christmas in Michigan — but rather a wet one.
The coldest outbreak of the season, according to the almanac, will come during the final week of January in 2025.
That's also when the worst snowstorm is expected to hit the state.
So, just how accurate is the Farmer's Almanac? Kimball says you may want to take these predictions with a grain of salt.
"It does boast an average accuracy of about 80% for its weather reports," Kimball reported. "But many weather experts disagree with the predictions saying the almanacs forecast may be no better than chance.
