FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) -- A mother and son in Farmington Hills have been charged for their role in a domestic dispute that ended in gunfire.
Farmington Hills Police say they were called to Fox Pointe Townhouses near 11 Mile and Halsted roads just after 2 a.m. on Tuesday on reports a group of people fighting in the parking lot.
According to authorities, the girlfriend of 19-year-old Brendon Wright says that he had assaulted her, and her friends witnessed the attack.
The group then attempted to intervene, leading to the fight breaking out in the parking lot. That’s when Wright’s mother, 47-year-old Patricia Wright, is said to have come out of the apartment complex with a gun.
As Wright’s girlfriend and her friends attempted to leave the scene, Patricia Wright fired shots at the group’s vehicle while they drove away.
"The bullet missed the vehicle, traveled across the parking lot and into a neighbor’s residence, narrowly missing multiple innocent people, including the resident who was in the apartment," Farmington Hills Police said in a press release.
Police then placed both Brendon Wright and Patricia Wright under arrest.
Patricia Wright was arraigned on Thursday at 47th District Court and has been charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling, three counts of felonious assault with a firearm, and four felony firearm violations. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Brendon Wright was also arraigned and charged with one misdemeanor count of domestic violence. He has also pleaded not guilty.
Each will be back in court for pre-trial conferences later next month.
