SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- A fatal crash on Monday night has left one Southfield man dead.
Authorities say the incident occurred around 11:15 p.m., when the driver was traveling north on the Lodge Freeway, exited at Northland Drive and crashed into a utility pole and then a tree, ClickOnDetroit.com reports.
When Southfield police arrived at the accident, which was reported to authorities by another driver, they discovered 58-year-old Michael Laviolette in the driver's seat of a black GMC Terrain. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although it appears that high speed may have been a factor in the crash, police are still actively investigating.
