CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A Fourth of July gathering in Chesterfield Township turned deadly over the weekend.
Police say neighbors and friends were celebrating the holiday on Jamaica Avenue early Monday when a fight broke out, leading to gunfire.
A 50-year-old man who was shot later died at the hospital. The 47-year-old suspect was arrested.
Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the incident.
Police say fireworks, alcohol and drugs were involved at the gathering.
The incident marked the second murder in Chesterfield Township in just over 24 hours.
On Saturday night, a 28-year-old man was arrested after calling 911 to say he shot a 31-year-old man during an argument. The victim died at the scene.
