COMMERCE TWP. (WWJ) – A fire has torn through a guest home on the property formerly owned by the late Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne in Commerce Township.

Commerce Township Fire Chief Jim Dundas confirmed to WWJ Sunday morning a large fire burned a roughly 5,000-square-foot guest house on the property, in the 8000 block of Oak Beach Drive.

The fire broke out sometime Friday night and crews were on-scene for about 12 hours. The first call reporting the fire came from across the lake and when crews showed up the fire had already burned through the roof.

No injuries were reported and a renter who was occupying the house at the time was able to make it out, according to Dundas.

A cause of the fire has not been determined. The exact extent of the damage was not disclosed.

Officials say they were able to save the garage, which contained two “high-value automobiles.”

Marchionne served as CEO of Fiat-Chrysler, now known as Stellantis, from 2009 until his death in 2018, following complications from surgery.
