FRASER, Mich. (WWJ) – An early-morning fire at a Macomb County motel has damaged multiple rooms.

A fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Fraser Motel on Groesbeck Highway, just south of Masonic, authorities say.

Fraser Public Safety officers have not released many details about the fire and have not determined a cause.

A story from the Macomb Daily, however, says a manager reported the fire began when a guest lit a cigarette and fell asleep.

There's been no word yet on any injuries.

The report says 13 of the motel's 32 rooms were engulfed in flames and left 26 people homeless.

Posts on social media show the motel engulfed in flames.
